Coming Home, But Different This Time

I know some people here might still think of me as "that weird horse girl with a camera," but I'm so much more than that now, and I was excited to show everyone what I've become through this official Colorado launch.

That horse-obsessed girl? She's still here, alive and well. But she's grown into someone who understands business strategy, has refined her artistic eye through years of practice, and knows how to capture the quiet moments that become tomorrow's treasured memories. There was definitely some butterflies returning to Colorado with a camera in hand and "professional photographer" on my business cards – but the good kind of nervous, the kind that means you're about to do something that really matters.

This giveaway was my way of saying "I'm back, I'm ready, and I'm so grateful for this community that shaped who I am." It felt like the perfect way to mark this new beginning.

The Evolution: From Dreamer to Doer

When I left Colorado years ago, I was driven but still figuring things out. I've always known hard work – I graduated college in three years, jumped right into a full-time job without taking any time off, and worked my tail off every summer to make it through each school year. One pivotal summer, I worked in Estes Park guiding trail rides through Rocky Mountain National Park. I was up at 5 AM most days helping care for 45+ horses, working 5.5 days a week. It was grueling work, but so rewarding, and it's exactly why I fell in love with Rocky Mountain National Park.

The difference now? I've learned everything I could about photography – from shooting in manual mode to understanding angles, lighting, and editing. I know how to do these things properly. I'm not just showing up with my camera hoping for the best and thinking it's good enough. I've put in the work, honed my craft, and built the technical foundation that my artistic vision deserves.

The Florida Chapter: A Necessary Pause

Let me paint you a picture of the contrast between my Florida life and what I've found back in Colorado. In Florida, my routine was simple but limiting: gym, work, church, and what I lovingly call "bedrotting" – basically being a homebody hermit. If I was lucky, I'd squeeze in a photo session here and there, but opportunities were sparse and I rarely left the house.

Colorado? Complete transformation. Within weeks of being back, my friends and I were already hitting the hiking trails with my dog, attending pilates classes, spending weekends with friends and family, and generally living life to the fullest. The energy shift was immediate and undeniable.

Sometimes we need those quiet seasons to prepare us for the abundant ones. Florida wasn't wasted time – it was preparation time.

The Vision: Dream Shoots on the Horizon

This giveaway launch wasn't just about giving back; it was about casting vision for what's coming. My dream shoots for 2026 include experiences that most Colorado photographers only dream of:

Ranch Life Documentation: Picture this – I'm there from sunrise to sunset on a working ranch in areas like Steamboat Springs, Kremmling, or the Western Slope, capturing everything from the 4 AM feeding routines to the evening ride home. When it's branding season and the whole community comes together for a cattle branding, I'll be there documenting this incredible Colorado ranch tradition. Multi-day cattle drives where I'm embedded with the crew, capturing both the gritty work and those quiet moments around the campfire under Colorado's endless starry skies.

Mountain Wedding Magic: My ultimate vision involves horse-crazy couples who want something extraordinary for their Colorado mountain wedding. Imagine a trail ride to a secluded location in the Colorado Rockies where the couple exchanges vows surrounded by their closest family and friends, then we all ride back to celebrate at a rustic barn. I'm there for every moment – the anticipation of saddling up, the intimate ceremony with Front Range peaks or San Juan Mountains as witnesses, and the joyful ride back to the reception.

National Forest Elopements: Having worked in Estes Park and fallen in love with RMNP, I understand the magic of this place. There's something spiritual about exchanging vows surrounded by those ancient peaks and pristine wilderness. Whether it's sunrise at Bear Lake, sunset at Sprague Lake, or an intimate ceremony with Longs Peak as your backdrop, RMNP elopements hold a special place in my heart. However, With it being a national park there are so many hoops to jump through and very few site to choose from. That's why I will always recommend eloping in a national forest or state park, or just open space.

Western Small Businesses: Colorado's western heritage runs deep throughout communities from Fort Collins to Colorado Springs, and I'm passionate about documenting the entrepreneurs keeping these traditions alive. Whether it's a hairstylist with western flair in Greeley, a boutique specializing in ranch wear in Longmont, a riding academy in Parker teaching the next generation, or equine massage therapists and chiropractors serving ranches across the Front Range – I want to tell their authentic Colorado stories.

Rodeo Culture: From high school rodeos in small Colorado towns where kids are learning the ropes to semi-pro competitions in Cheyenne Frontier Days territory, there's incredible storytelling opportunity in documenting this uniquely western sport and the Colorado families who live it.

Building Community, One Frame at a Time

Coming back to Colorado meant returning to my people – family and friends who've supported my dreams from the beginning. But it also meant building a professional community in a market where western lifestyle photography isn't just a niche, it's a way of life throughout the Front Range and beyond.

Life here just feels right. Morning walks with my dog through the neighborhood mean actual sidewalks and mountain views instead of endless suburban sprawl. My remote work schedule (7-3 Mountain Time) gives me those golden afternoon hours when Colorado light is absolutely perfect for sessions. We've already rediscovered favorite hiking spots and found new trails to explore with friends and family. And watching our pup experience her first Colorado snow? Pure magic. She bounded through it like she'd been waiting her whole life for this moment – and honestly, I think I had been too.

Having authentic connections to Colorado's western lifestyle gives me an advantage that can't be taught or faked. I was born and raised in this ranch culture, and that authenticity shows in every frame I capture, whether I'm shooting in rural Weld County, the foothills near Golden, or mountain communities like Evergreen and Conifer.

The Giveaway: A Thank You and a Beginning

This giveaway served multiple purposes. Yes, I wanted to grow my following and generate leads for my business, but more importantly, I wanted to give back to the Colorado friends and family who have always supported my dreams. This was my way of saying thank you while officially launching this new chapter.

The prize package included a one-hour lifestyle session (perfect for couples, families, seniors, or anyone wanting to document their story) plus five Polaroid prints from the session. I specifically designed this to appeal to someone I could potentially photograph throughout different life stages – engagements leading to weddings, maternity sessions, newborn photos, and family updates as children grow.

And the winner is... Olivia and Skylar Veer! We are about to have the cutest session! Stay tuned for final pictures!

The Future: Building Something Beautiful

This Colorado launch represents more than a geographical move – it's the foundation for turning my passion into my full-time career. By the end of 2027, my goal is to transition completely into photography, building something sustainable that allows me to do this work I love every single day.

What does that look like practically? It means continuing to book Colorado weddings throughout the year, growing my portfolio of ranch and western lifestyle sessions, and becoming deeply embedded in this community I care so much about. It means being the photographer couples from Denver to Durango think of when they want their ranch wedding documented, the one families in Loveland, Longmont, and Louisville trust to capture their authentic western heritage.

More than anything, it means preserving stories that matter. Colorado's western lifestyle isn't just aesthetically beautiful – it's a way of life that deserves to be documented with authenticity and care. That's the work I'm here to do, one session at a time, one relationship at a time, building something that honors both the craft and the community.

What's Next

This giveaway and launch were just the beginning. Over the coming months, you'll see me diving deep into Colorado's western community, building relationships, and creating the kind of work that doesn't just document moments but preserves legacies.

If you're planning a wedding, thinking about family photos, or just want someone who understands the western lifestyle to tell your story, I'm here and I'm ready. This isn't just about building a photography business – it's about coming home to do the work I was born to do, in the place where it all makes sense.

Thank you to everyone who entered the giveaway, shared the posts, and welcomed me back to Colorado with such warmth. The best is yet to come.
